The Story of Celia is the odyssey of a young, headstrong, American girl from a too-small house in a too-small town who is perpetually disheartened by her lot in life and desperately longs for adventure.  One part science-fiction, one part fairy-tale, and one part travelogue, The Story of Celia shows what happens when a modern child full of imagination is suffocated by circumstance, but suddenly discovers an opportunity for a thrilling and uncharted journey.  This is a world-hopping adventure spent solving what begins as a straightforward mystery, but is actually a great deal more.

Celia, our heroine, is clever, inquisitive, and full of imagination, which is a pretty perfect recipe for a spirited adventurer.  She is an excellent judge of character, is capable and independent, and knows a lot of things about a lot of things (as she’d be the first to tell you).  Through her staggering adventure, Celia finds she is more fearless than she ever would have suspected.

In her story, Celia finds several strange artifacts that lead her to befriend a magnificent and otherworldly lawman named Troose.  Traveling by his side, she gradually becomes his student, assistant, and confidant.  Through their investigation of a low-profile cross-world smuggler, Celia and Troose traverse realities that are perpetually stunning, often bewildering, and occasionally terrifying.  They also form some very unusual alliances.  Celia learns a great deal about the often-paradoxical nature of the Seamworld, and experiences a taste of the type of life she had only known in dreams; a life of seemingly endless possibilities.

The Story of Celia is a story of finding one’s place in a difficult world.  For Celia, a young woman who has always felt inordinately drawn to adventure, home may not necessarily be where her heart is...
